Inaugurals on the rise
Ever since Upland’s launch back in 2019 Inaugurals have been a good in-game investment. Their value has been rising from approx. 100k UPX in the beginning to an entry price of 1 million UPX in early May 2021. Is this the beginning of a big bubble or do Inaugurals have a long-term value? Rarity as the ultimate price driver
History has shown that rare NFTs usually come along with high prices (e.g. Cryptopunks). Upland is a game that is being developed as a long-term success story and not a quickly hyped blockchain game. The focus really lies on the economy of its metaverse. Considering this one might conclude that Inaugurals will rise in prices the longer Upland exists. Until today this statement has proven true as the value per property has risen from approximately 100k UPX in 2019 to 1 Mio UPX in 2021.

The top 10 list of Inaugural hodlers has been dominated by the player TheTurbo since the beginning of Upland. He was one of the early players in the closed beta test and was discovering the potential of an early phase purchase of properties. He currently owns the impressive amount of 135 Inaugurals which is why some players call him Mr. Inaugural. TheTurbo is very active on Upland’s Discord server and likes to discuss the game’s economy as well as interesting strategies with other players.
The second place in this ranking is Kent with 20 Inaugurals. Kent is also a known player in the metaverse that you will most often find near good property deals. Although he is not so active on Discord, he is still looking to increase his net worth

The hidden champions
The value of most Inaugurals is somewhat hidden as a player’s net worth only includes the minting price or the last paid UPX price. At the current market price level of 1 million UPX per Inaug the net worth of TheTurbo would be almost 130 million UPX higher taking into account the initial minting prices of his Inaugs. The future will show if the prices of the EST. 2019 gems will continue to rise. Considering Upland’s growth rate of 2020 and early 2021 the future value of Inaugs might be very bright.
High net worth players are joining the game
Upland’s recent success in the blockchain gaming industry has lead to some wealthy players joining the metaverse. They buy millions of UPX to start their career thus gaining a nice starter advantage. One of the rising stars in the Inaugural Ranking is the player called DJShorts. He is part of the UDU network (Upland Development Unit) and quickly discovered that Inaugurals were undervalued in March 2021. He didn’t hesitate and bought 14 Inaugs on March 13th 2021, plus another two one day later. His average price per Inaugural was around 370k UPX per property. Considering the new entry price is currently 1 million UPX this has been an almost 3x increase in value. This acquisition of 16 Inaugs pushed him directly on rank 6 in the top 10 Inaugural hodlers. It will be interesting to see if new players will copy his strategy to become Inaugural hodlers as well. The buying power is already here.

Summary
Inaugurals have been a lucrative UPX investment since the very early stage of Upland. Whereas many players didn’t notice the real value of the very first NFTs in Upland, players like TheTurbo and Kent did know that they were able to buy a piece of Upland’s history and hodl them until today. Others have sold them for a quick profit to notice the error a couple of weeks later and were buying Inaugurals back for a much higher price. Owning Inaugs will distinguish you from the mass as there won’t be enough of them for every player in Upland.
